You can see why it is essential to plan ahead and make the most of every Not So Scary minute! Not to worry! I am not only an avid Disney lover but an ex- Disney cast member as well! I spent my college years at the House of Mouse working my way from concierge to Guest Service Manager. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017 – Best Dates to Attend
The number one thing people ask me about about Disney World, and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, is “what is the best day to attend?” Disney special events such as Not So Scary Halloween Party and Merry Christmas Party can and do sell out. Especially Oct. 31 and December 25th, so we recommend purchasing tickets as soon as you know you want to attend a special event!
With Halloween falling on the last day of October, the 31st is historically one of the most popular dates to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween. Fridays in October also tend to be busier as more locals attend. Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, especially those in early September, are less popular. These days will allow you to make the most of the party as lines will be at their lowest!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017 Costume Policy | Guests in Costumes
A more restrictive costume policy went into effect for the Disney Halloween party in 2016. These policy changes were fairly restrictive, especially for adults. Read the policy yourself below:
Disney may deny admission to anyone or remove anyone who is wearing attire that is considered inappropriate or could detract from other guests’ experiences. Guests may dress as their favorite characters, but cannot pose for pictures or sign autographs. Costumes must be family-friendly and not obstructive, offensive, violent or objectionable. Costumes must not contain weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for real weapons. Costumes may not contain sharp or pointed objects, or materials that might strike another guest. Guests who do not abide by the guidelines may be refused entry or removed unless their costumes can be modified to acceptable standards.
For guests ages 14 and up:
Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and subject to additional security screening. Costumes may not reach or drag the ground. Capes should not go below the waist. Themed T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable. Transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus are OK. Headwear must not cover the face. Masks are not allowed. For guests ages 13 and under:
Costumes and some masks may be worn. Masks cannot cover the entire face, and eyes must be visible.”
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017 – Entering Procedures
The party officially begins at pm inside Magic Kingdom. However; that doesn’t mean the party has to wait until that late in the evening! Walt Disney World has historically allowed Mickey’s not so scary guests to be allowed to enter the park and party starting at pm. I cannot highly recommend taking advantage of this time enough! See my tips for doing this!
Many people frequently wonder how Disney handles closing the park to day guests while allowing party guests to enter. Before the park closes for the party at 7 pm, cast members are out and about to remind guests that the park is closing. All party guests will be given party wristbands upon entering and those guests already in the park will find cast members scanning party tickets and distributing wristbands at ride entry points.
Party guests are funneled into the park to the right of Main Street and into Tomorrowland to avoid crowds colliding. Park guests are exited out through Main Street as per usual. At 7 pm cast members stationed around the park will be asking guests to show wristbands if they are not visible. Guests that do not have them will be directed to the exits.

FastPass+ at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017
FastPass+ is not available during the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Don’t worry, this should not effect your party experience! There is little need for FastPass+ during the party as most people are enjoying the special activities as opposed to riding rides. This can be a dream come true for those who do plan to ride as many rides as possible!
However; party guests entering the park between 4 pm and 7 pm can use FastPass+ during those hours. This is assuming their party ticket is linked in their My Disney Experience. Party guests entering the park before the party begins might be able to use their party ticket at a FastPass+ kiosk. However, FastPass+ selections are based on availability, and return times for many of the attractions may no longer be available for that day.
