6 Cast Member Tips for Making the Most of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween 2017

Being an ex-Disney Cast-Member, I often have people ask me for tips for enjoying Walt Disney World. I especially love special ticket events such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween and Mickey’s Merry Christmas Party due to the value those parties provide park guests!

As you can see from my FREE All-Inclusive Guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017, there is a lot to do at these specially ticketed events!

Below, I have compiled my top 6 tips for making the most of this year’s spooktacular event! These tips and tricks will save you time, money, and headache at this year’s parties!

1. Dress Up — But Remember Your Settings!

Dressing up for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween is one of the most fun aspects of the party! You are surrounded by tons of other costumed guests of all ages so no reason for you to feel out of place! Seeing the creative costumes others come up with for this spooktacular event is one of my favorite parts!

However; do remember your settings! A theme park is no place for floor length capes, sight blocking masks, or princess ballgown costumes. You will be waiting in lines and getting on and off rides. Make sure your costume will not affect your experience! I would regret not being able to enjoy the party just to have a cooler costume.

Perfect ideas are shirts, tutu skirts, street clothes versions of characters, and pants style costumes! Remember, Florida is still quite warm in the fall! You probably want as light of a costume as possible, with as few layers as possible!

Don’t Pay Full Price for Your Tickets!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets can set you back as much as $115 per adult and $110 per child when purchased directly through Disney. While I worked in Orlando I knew one thing — Discount tickets were hard to find! You either needed to be able to get them from your school’s student union or you went through the UnderCover Tourist!

The UnderCover Tourist is a reliable discount ticket provider for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017 tickets! By purchasing your tickets through them, you will be saving $8 per ticket! Use that savings to buy your family a Mickey Cheesecake or a Dole Whip!

Feel Like You Splurged on Your Room — While Saving!

Alright ya’ll, I am going to tell you straight. If you need a hotel for you Disney World vacation you NEED to have a reservation on property. Seriously, the magic of the resorts really makes your vacation complete. It keeps the excitement in the air and the spirit alive.

I will tell you straight a second time… Although they are totally worth it in my opinion, these Disney resorts can be pricey. When I worked at Disney and lived in Orlando it was hard to justify spending an arm on a room when I lived down the street. Since I didn’t want to miss the magic, I was always scouring for the best deals on Disney resorts and hotels!

I was so excited to find David’s Vacation Club Rentals! You were basically renting rooms from vacation club owners instead of booking hotel reservations. DON’t LET THAT SCARE YOU! The whole thing is safe, easy, and affordable! Dave sets everything up so that you check in as you would at any resort. I have been able to stay in the Deluxe Resort Boardwalk Villas for the same price I could get Caribbean Beach through Disney directly.

So not only can you save but at a much higher quality resort! You will also get the perk of the villa sized rooms! This can be great for larger families or those on extended stays!

Arrive As Early As Possible!

Although the party does not start till 7 pm, your ticket allows you to enter Disney’s Magic Kingdom as early as 4 pm! This allows you to have THREE ADDITIONAL HOURS of rides, regular characters, treats, and regularly scheduled shows!

On busier party nights, these extra hours are crucial! They will allow you to see all the characters you like, ride any rides you desire, and catch the shows, parade, and fireworks. If you arrive at 7 pm you will only have five hours to accomplish everything. Arriving at four provides you eight hours. This will make a huge difference for you and your family!

Catch the Parade Not the Crowds!

The Boo-to-You Halloween Parade is an absolute can’t miss for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! This parade is a spectacle of characters, ghouls, floats, and dancers. The lights, action, and signing will keep your party excitement sky high! With the show running at both 9:15 pm and 11:15 pm nightly, there is no reason to miss it!

However; there is also no reason to lose hours to waiting at the perfect Main Street spot or by fighting crowds out of that perfect spot! The parade begins back in Frontierland just to the side of Splash Mountain. Having the parade start in this spot means it stops in this end in this spot as well! That means, you will be one of the first to run back to rides or characters saving you time!

I also love the eerie feel of Frontierland at nighttime. To me, it is the perfect setting for Not So Scary Events!

Be Comfortable for HalloWishes!

I don’t have to tell you how amazing HalloWishes is! Hopefully you know that you MUST see this beautiful firework show during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! This doesn’t mean it is worth wasting hours of party time sitting on Main Street waiting for the 10:15 pm show!

Magic Kingdom has added a beautiful lawn between Main Street USA and TomorrowLand Terrace. This is located across the Terrace from the Rose Garden. These lawns allow you to sit comfortably with plenty of space in a prime location. Since it is slightly off to the side, these seats are usually the last remaining. However; they also happen to be my favorite!
